Pet overpopulation is the NUMBER ONE KILLER of healthy dogs and cats in our country today. "Animal shelters are forced to kill millions of healthy, potentially adoptable dogs and cats each year in this country. No other disease or condition of companion animals takes as many lives as euthanasia. In fact, no other disease comes close."
In 2008, animal shelters in Shasta County impounded close to 9,600 dogs and cats. Nearly 52% of those animals were euthanized. While the loss of so many innocent lives is heartbreaking, the real tragedy is knowing it can be prevented simply by spaying and neutering companion animals before they reach sexual maturity and reproduce.
S.A.F.E. knows the costs associated with spaying and neutering companion animals can be financially challenging for many in our community and we are here to help. Please click here for more information about our spay/neuter assistance programs. Together, we CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."
